Gap goes GREEN!
This year, Gap marks Earth Day with the 3rd consecutive collection of the 0% Plastic Bag – a reusable tote bag with a conscience – made with 100% unbleached cotton.
Aptly coined, the 0% Plastic Bag initiative was sparked as a Southeast Asian project in 2009 to support the global green movement by encouraging the usage of these totes in place of disposable plastic bags. To stay true to this initiative, special attention was paid to the production process to ensure no plastic was used.
Every year, there are 5 new designs. 2011 is the result of a partnership with 5 digital illustrators who belong to the Organisation of Illustrators Council (OIC). They are Anngee Neo, Flee Circus (Lee Wai Leng), Gwee Yin Fei, Mindflyer (Michael Ng) and Miun.
Each was invited to reinterpret the original design of the bag while incorporating the Gap “0% Plastic” tagline.
