ALL WORK NO PLAY
Have a look at Mark’s works and you’ll see why he is considered Singapore’s upcoming hot photography talent. His debut photography exhibition Strong Play Ethic subverts the normalcy of a granite reality and shows that contrary to popular belief, it IS possible to have your cake and eat it too.
And his objects of photographic affection have certainly had their fair share! His lens has spanned the international likes of Red Bull Athlete and Razors Pro Team rider Stefan ” The Horn” Horngacher as well as Pro Mountain Bike Race Team – The Athertons– a result of his journey to the STROKE02 Exhibition in Munich, The Red Bull Hare Scramble in mountains in Styria and UCI mountain bike world cup, to name a few.
But that’s not all… from Mark’s blog, we read that it is the play ethic of the local personalities which inspire him the most – from the local reps like turntable instrumentalist maestro DJ Koflow to b-boy pioneers Radikal Forze Crew and Red Bull Streetstyle Champion Azri Trickster , Mark is not only able to capture the spirit of this play ethic in his images, amidst each raw and grainy detail – he draws his viewers in with a hint of envy.
There is a sheer intensity in the eyes of each athlete – strong, confident and proud of his/her craft, successfully bringing across the theme of the exhibition, which pays tribute to the resilience, discipline, courage and one’s core inner strength in never giving up.
Strong Play Ethic runs from 18-31 December 2010 at 36 Armenian Street #01/02-05; 12pm – 7pm daily. Closed on 24 & 25 December; till 4pm on 31 December.
* All sale proceeds go to the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund
