Rumble in the Couture Jungle

We first learn from Hypebeast that Valentino was ‘getting in on the act (of camo) with an inspired collection for Spring/Summer 2013. Realized on clothing, bags, leather accessories and camouflage-laden shoes, the camouflage technique is obtained from laser-cut leather or fabric, heat-sealed and then printed for a mimetic army effect.

While one might think Valentino is late to the party when it comes to the all-over print, it was Valentino Garavani himself that first used camouflage in an early ’90s haute couture collection staged in Paris.’

Yes we’ve seen lotsa Camo variations, but what really got my attention to this Valentino creation was the combination of materials and how suede was weaved into the pattern.

Also, the colour tone stands out from other brands which have inflicted camo into their designs as well – in that the khaki is a darker and more unique palette.

The sneakers are most definitely on my wish-list..the other items like the jackets and wallet are less palatable.
