Lightning People: The underside and the place of endless dreams

Kirsten Dunst, Chloë Sevigny and Others Illuminate Christopher Bollen’s Debut Novel

Created by tastemaker and trendsetter Christopher Bollen, Editor-at-Large of Interview Magazine, the short film depicts a haunting rendition of every New Yorker’s dream – to pursue and to be pursued. The montage of young brothers exploring Washington Square Park and secret rooftop hideaways in their city is brought to live by the voices of Chlöe Sevigny, Nate Lowman, Leelee Sobieski, Rufus Wainwright, Waris Ahluwalia, Kalup Linzy, Natasha Lyonne and Kirsten Dunst.

Bollen calls it both “a Valentine” and an “F-you” to New York City, the films raw appeal depicts each subject’s intricate characterization, influenced by Bollen’s experience as the gatekeeper of V and Interview. Like a poem that is never completed and has to my pried from the hands of it’s author, Bollen shares his never-ending roller-coaster journey as an editor in an interview with Nowness, discussing the fauna of New York and the inspirations behind Lightning People.

And to leave you with something to ponder about:
“Lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice, until it does. Behind every senseless tragedy there is a careful logic.”
