ART FOR A CAUSE SKATE SKATE & SURF

Yesterday , Today , Forever: Jeremyville x The Skate Room

The Skate Room is a creative non-profit driven by a singular purpose: to empower youth using art and skateboarding.

They’ve successfully done this working with the NGO Skateistan, whose innovative programs and charity currently reaches more than 1,500 at-risk youth, aged 5-17, each week through their schools around the world.

That’s what we call a powerful logo, that skates the talk.

The Skate Room’s vision is to offer art editions at an affordable price and make art available to the greater public.

We’ve got our eye on a few editions, one of which is Jeremyville‘s.

Jeremyville is a New York based artist, designer, and author. He has exhibited at the Andy Warhol Museum, The Brooklyn Museum, The Madre Museum, 798 Arts District in Beijing, La Casa Encandida Museum Madrid, Bunkamura Gallery in Shibuya Tokyo, colette in Paris, The Museum of Art and Design New York, and the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York.

“The titles of the 4 boards, Yesterday, Today, Forever and Eternity, represent the 4 stages of our lives: struggle, resolution, growth and epiphany, and the overarching concept concerns itself with the answers that can come from positive action, discipline, vision, and endurance. So too with The Skateroom, they take a problem in our world and resolve it creatively, with lateral thinking and vision. They are on a very similar journey to the intention of my daily art practice, and I was instantly and passionately attracted to the aims of The Skateroom and this project, from the very start.” (Jeremyville)

A popular project within his prolific career is his 1,200+ ‘Community Service Announcements’ messages, that he shares around the world through street art, installations, giant public sculptures, multiples, and editions.

Working with his creative partner Megan Mair, Studio Jeremyville develops creative initiatives and community projects in various cities around the world to help empower the people to make art a tool for positive change, on a personal & community level.
