Chinese water calligraphy on a tricycle

Nicholas Hanna

All over China, you can find elderly men writing Chinese characters with long brushes & water that only last a few minutes.

Nicholas Hanna, an installation and media artist working in Beijing was intrigued by this mesmerizing beauty of poetic expressions whereby minutes after the characters are written, they disappear.

He has built a tricycle which is commonly used in China to write Chinese characters on the ground as it moves.
