Japonism started out in 1984 as a OEM glasses designing company designing for apparel makers and other eye wear firms and was officially established at IOFT in 1996.
All of its eye wear focuses on Japanese beauty as well as high quality materials in order to create eyeglasses with universal value. The “Projection” Series in particular caught my attention with its unique “Rudder Hinge”
The most impressive feature of “JAPONISM PROJECTION” is its hinges. Normally hinges are brazed to a frame front and the hinges can’t be exchanged easily when broken after lengthy usage. Japonism created hinges that can be released and inserted. The inner parts of the hinges can be exchanged if necessary and this is done to reduce repair cost and time.

The attention to detail borders on ludicrous. As our noses’ shapes vary, Japonism searched for nose pads that would be accepted globally. Beta-titanium is used for proper spring as its base part and a new material which has a soft and gentle texture, Nucrel, for the nose pads.
